AT 4 SEVENS FARMETTE IN SERENBE, GEORGIA

Thursday, November 9, 2023: 5-8pm EST

A very special collaboration with Kelli Castille of 4 SEVENS FARMETTE & Jeni Bailey of EN LIEU DESIGN CO

I’m so very excited about this special event held at my dear friend Kelli Castille’s beautiful home in Serenbe, GA: 4 Sevens Farmette. What an honor to create with her friends and neighbors. If you’re near Serenbe or the Atlanta area, please join us for an unforgettable evening. This is also a holiday weekend for most folks, so consider looking into a little vacation in Serenbe if your schedule allows.

I’ve known both Kelli and Jeni for almost a decade. This will be a fantastic (creative) collaboration! Both ladies are kindred artist souls- please see below for Jeni’s bio , and more about her talent and craft.

During this special gathering, guests will be creating with both Jeni and me:

  • In Jeni’s Leather 101 workshop, guests will learn the basics of leather working and walk away with a new favorite fall accessory - their very own custom leather clutch. Skills learned include basic leather prep, hand sewing & setting hardware.

  • In Liza’s Shibori 101 workshop, guests will be learning the Japanese folding techniques and indigo dye process of Shibori, to create their own custom Turkish Bath Towels.

It will be a night to remember. Wine and refreshments will be served. I hope you’ll join us.

Jeni Bailey of En Lieu Design Co. has spent the last two decades designing products for private companies & individuals as well as sourcing goods worldwide for various boutiques. She draws inspiration from her many travels, but believes the beauty of creation is all around us in the daily life.

Jeni creates custom pieces by hand selecting each hide & specializes in transforming them into leather goods including purses, leather and cashmere scarves, as well as smaller accessories making sure each piece of the hide is fully utilized.

She lives on beautiful 30A with her husband, three children and fur babies. Jeni is available by appointment at her studio in Grayton Beach, FL. She welcomes you to visit or book your own private event the next time you’re at the beach!

ART Pumpkin DIY

This tutorial is a FAVORITE. Each year, we create our own Art Pumpkins using (the secret art tool…) CHALK MARKERS!

If you’d like a print out of the supply list, and a printable “inspirational shapes” PDF, just sign up on the link above.

You can also check out the video below… it was originally a 2020 FaceBook Live: a super-easy ART Pumpkin Tutorial.

My FAVORITE is the Henri Matisse-inspired pumpkin! His cut-outs from the 1940s are fantastic. To read more about Matisse’s cut outs on the MOMA website, click HERE.

I tried painting my pumpkins with white household paint before using my chalk markers (art exploration!) but the paint peeled off. It’s best to just chalk marker directly on ANY color pumpkin (no need to paint). But don’t forget to seal your pumpkins… chalk marker will run when introduced to water!

If your family decides to create your own ART Pumpkin, I’d love to see it! Tag me on Insta or FB, or feel free to email me a photo.Keep creating, my friends!

Supplies needed:

  • A pumpkin (or 2 or 3!) - white, orange, or green!

  • Chalk Markers

  • Inspiration & expression (PDF Matisse shapes available on the link above)

  • Clear spray varnish (I used Rustoleum Universal Clear (link below) You can choose flat or glossy finish. Use this OUTSIDE with a mask!

Amazon Affiliate links* to my favorite chalk markers below. These can also be found at your local craft store.

How to Make a Tiny Art Book: Video

How to Make a Tiny Art Book out of Paper DIY Art Book

I had the chance to visit Mrs. Rhea’s awesome ART Club at Emerald Coast Middle School today! It was a joy seeing old friends and meeting new ones. Mrs. Rhea is a local celebrity and she is so great at inspiring and teaching her middle school artists. She rocks.

Kids, if you’d like a review on how to create a tiny ART BOOK, check out the youtube video button below. Once you’ve got the hang of it, I know you’ll want to create more and more tiny books.

This was also a fun little lesson inside our last Women’s Zoom Art Night from this past fall. If you’d like to join the next Women’s Zoom Art Night, scroll down on the blog and hit the sign up button to receive information and details once the date is set.

Keep creating!
