EXPLORING NEW CRAFT: SHIBORI & LEATHER 101

AT 4 SEVENS FARMETTE IN SERENBE, GEORGIA

Thursday, November 9, 2023: 5-8pm EST

A very special collaboration with Kelli Castille of 4 SEVENS FARMETTE & Jeni Bailey of EN LIEU DESIGN CO

I’m so very excited about this special event held at my dear friend Kelli Castille’s beautiful home in Serenbe, GA: 4 Sevens Farmette. What an honor to create with her friends and neighbors. If you’re near Serenbe or the Atlanta area, please join us for an unforgettable evening. This is also a holiday weekend for most folks, so consider looking into a little vacation in Serenbe if your schedule allows.

I’ve known both Kelli and Jeni for almost a decade. This will be a fantastic (creative) collaboration! Both ladies are kindred artist souls- please see below for Jeni’s bio , and more about her talent and craft.

During this special gathering, guests will be creating with both Jeni and me:

  • In Jeni’s Leather 101 workshop, guests will learn the basics of leather working and walk away with a new favorite fall accessory - their very own custom leather clutch. Skills learned include basic leather prep, hand sewing & setting hardware.

  • In Liza’s Shibori 101 workshop, guests will be learning the Japanese folding techniques and indigo dye process of Shibori, to create their own custom Turkish Bath Towels.

It will be a night to remember. Wine and refreshments will be served. I hope you’ll join us.

Jeni Bailey of En Lieu Design Co. has spent the last two decades designing products for private companies & individuals as well as sourcing goods worldwide for various boutiques. She draws inspiration from her many travels, but believes the beauty of creation is all around us in the daily life.

Jeni creates custom pieces by hand selecting each hide & specializes in transforming them into leather goods including purses, leather and cashmere scarves, as well as smaller accessories making sure each piece of the hide is fully utilized.

She lives on beautiful 30A with her husband, three children and fur babies. Jeni is available by appointment at her studio in Grayton Beach, FL. She welcomes you to visit or book your own private event the next time you’re at the beach!

I’m pleased to invite you to the studio to CREATE with fellow artist/ceramicist Courtney Krempa of @sunupceramics.

I met Courtney during a wheel-throwing class she recently taught. She’s a ray of sunshine… and this workshop is sure to DE-LIGHT! 💡

Courtney will then fire, glaze, and assemble our lamps with custom hardware. Guests will pick up finished lamps an estimated 3-4 weeks after the workshop at Liza’s studio.

Beginners welcome.

Light appetizers will be served. Artists are always encouraged to BYOB.

Liza’s Studio is located in Point Washington, Santa Rosa Beach, Florida.

Baby Shower Blocks: A Little Art Project

I recently had the honor of helping host a baby shower for my friend Meg.

We created these little blocks during the Baby Shower for baby girl’s nursery. I wanted to share the process in case YOU would like to create some blocks as a baby gift, OR have baby shower guests help create them as an Art Project during the shower.

Hope you enjoy the video. And let me know if you create your own!

Two New Ways to CREATE!

I’m so happy to re-introduce Homeschool Art Class in the Studio this Fall! Your kids ages 6-11 are quite welcome to come learn and create face-to-face if you happen to be a local resident (near 30-A, Florida).

What an honor! To see past Homeschool Art Class inspiration, check out the story tab called “Homeschool” on ye old Instagram.

And if you’re not local, but still homeschool, be sure to check out my monthly subscription: Art School with Liza. It’s an epic art curriculum for homeschoolers OR kids that would love to create over school breaks, on the weekends, or after school. It contains over 100 fantastic lessons on art history, famous artists, and art fundamentals. Most of the artists that are included in the CC curriculum are covered, and there’s even a little “search bar” inside your library of lessons. You can search “Picasso” and a Picasso lesson will pop up. It’s magical!

In other news, here’s ONE MORE WAY you can create! I LOVED creating these fun sculptures with kids in the studio during Summer Art Camp this year. Many of you shouted out: “Hey, we wanna learn, too!” So… here ya’ go. It’s a fun process, and I think once you get the hang of a new art medium like plaster strips, you kind of fall in love. You can create ANYTHING with a bit of practice.

Like the other stand alone online workshops, this workshop will include easy step-by-step videos (pre-recorded so you can pause, stop and start again anytime), a printable PDF with instructions, pep talks, and a printable supply list with links inside.

Hope you’re ready to get messy and create your own Plaster Quirky Bird! Details on the button.
