I love the process of cyanotypes - it’s very similar to developing a photograph by hand. All my cyanotypes are created with the lovely flora around my home. I take walks near the Choctawhatchee Bay and the Gulf of Mexico to gather leaves and weeds, ivy, and resurrection ferns.

This “treasure hunting” element of the process is just as important as the rest of the cyanotype journey. A stark contrast of white on indigo develops during the last phase of creating these works. The deep blue that appears hints at water - where the first steps began.

Made with Florida sunshine & Gulf air, these cyanotypes are a lovely keepsake from a visit to the beach.
