Discovering Frida Art Lesson for Kids - SUPPLY LIST

As an Amazon Affiliate, I earn from qualified purchases. Links below are affiliate links, but you’re welcome to look around your home for supplies, or go to your local craft store for recommended items! Dick Blick also has these items, and some are cheaper/some are not.

You are totally welcome to use what you have on hand for this project. The oil pastels & tempera cakes are my FAVORITE tools here in the Art Studio - they last a very long time & you won’t regret investing in these supplies for your artists at home.

Recommended Supplies:

  • Home Printer (for printing out templates)

  • Pencil & Eraser

  • Scissors

  • Paintbrushes & Water Cup

  • Good Paper: I use 9.5x12 80 pound sulphite drawing paper (it’s thick, heavy, & can hold paint well!). You could also used mixed media paper or watercolor paper. Sketch paper & computer paper may be a little too thin.

  • A Black Sharpie

  • Oil Pastels (Crayons will work if you press down hard)

  • Tempera Cakes - make sure to have a peach & brown cake for Frida’s skin. (If you have watercolors at home, these will work as well - though they won’t be as bright.)

I can’t wait to create with you! This lesson is also inside Art School with Liza. If your artists LOVE this lesson, check out Art School with Liza or other workshops from the Art Studio!
